Under the sponsorship agreement, MEHD has become the title sponsor of the ‘Moorfields Under 12 Youth Football League’ and one team in the league has been renamed ‘Moorfields United’.

The Moorfields Under 12 Youth Football League comprises two divisions, each with eight teams of eight players competing. The Youth Football League season began on February 20 and teams will compete every other Saturday thereafter until October 2010.

Dr. Chris Canning, CEO and Medical Director at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, says: “The sponsorship agreement with the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence is a great initiative to support our local community and encourage children’s sports.

“At the same time we aim to raise awareness about the importance of eye screening and other eye services that are available especially for children, in whom vision related problems are common. Most children are not aware that they might have problems with their eyes and this can lead to problems when playing sports and at school. This sponsorship complements our School Vision Programme in highlighting the importance of vision screening amongst children and parents in Dubai; Moorfields is a keen supporter of Dubai football and we are delighted to help kids enjoy healthy fun at these outstanding facilities at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence.”
