Emirates is bringing the World Cup to a truly global audience through its search for the longest virtual Mexican Wave - or ‘twexican wave’ - through the use of Twitter and www.twexicanwave.com.
Inspired by the Mexican Wave phenomenon that took off at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, the aim is to take the cult celebration from the stadium and put it into the digital space. At www.twexicanwave.com you can change your Twitter profile picture to one with your arms in the air, re-enacting the Mexican wave.
To win a chance to be at the final of the World Cup in Johannesburg on July 11, you need to be part of the longest Twexican Wave.
At the end of the competition the longest wave created wins. If you are part of that wave, you are entered into the prize draw to win a pair of tickets to the World Cup final.
One winner from each participating country will win a pair of tickets to the 2010FIFA World Cup final. Theprize is only open to residents of Brazil, UK, Australia, Germany, India, Japan and the UAE.
