DUBAI — Last week Jumeirah Golf Estates received two awards in the 2010 Middle East Golfer Awards, with the Earth course winning ‘Best New Golf Development Project’ and the Dubai World Championship presented by: DP World, taking home ‘Best Professional Tournament’.
In its third year, the Middle East Golfer Awards is the only awards function in the Middle East which recognizes the strides made by those in the golf industry. Readers of the region’s leading golf publication were able to cast their votes online to determine the winners.
Saeed Harib, Managing Director of Nakheel Leisure, said: “The inaugural Dubai World Championship held last November at Jumeirah Golf Estates promised to bring in a new era of golf to the region and I think we can safely say we achieved this. Close to 60,000 spectators visited the Earth course during the four-day tournament and it was an overwhelming success.”
Colin Smith, Director of Sporting Events, received both awards on behalf of Dubai World Championship and Jumeirah Golf Estates.
