Hosted by Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles, and supported by RSA, Rivoli Group and Emirates Golf Club, the event runs from the first week of November until April, 2015.

Open to all amateur UAE resident golfers with an officially registered handicap, the event features five categories of match play competition — men’s and ladies singles, men’s and ladies doubles, and mixed doubles.

The event is the latest addition to Porsche Centre Dubai’s growing list of golf tournaments and follows the Porsche Golf Cup Dubai, which took place earlier this year.

To commence the inaugural Match Play Series, players at the top of the draw for the opening round will have home advantage and will therefore select the course where their first match will be played. In the following rounds, the players who record the highest winning margins from their previous round match will then be awarded home advantage.

The top 16 players from the Men’s Singles and the top 8 players from the Ladies Singles will join the 6 players that qualified through the Porsche Centre Dubai Ramadan Golf Cup (held earlier this year), to participate in the inaugural Porsche Centre Dubai Champions Trophy.

The Champions Trophy is a 36-hole Strokeplay event to take place during April 2015 and will determine the first ever Porsche Centre Dubai Champion Golfer.

Vijay Rao, General Manager of Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles, the sole distributor for Porsche in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, said: “The popularity of this year’s Ryder Cup highlighted the appeal of match play golf, and we’re excited to provide amateur golfers from the UAE a platform to experience this great format.

Rao added, “Our new Match Play Series continues our commitment to support the local sporting culture. Through our strategic partnership with the Emirates Golf Club, we’re able to bring Porsche customers, club members, and the wider golfing community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates a unique event that is sure to thrill and excite, in the same way that our cars do.”
