The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has carried out a systematic campaign targeting street vendors and hawkers at Seih Shoaib area and along the Trucks road.
The campaign focused on curbing the illegal practice of hawkers selling items, such as auto oils, water tankers and tyres without being licensed to do so, in order to protect buyers from the fallouts of buying from untrusted street vendors.
The campaign, which continued during the daytime, resulted in reporting 10 offences and the impounding of three vehicles used in selling unlicensed items. It will continue in a regular manner until the activity is finally eradicated.
Beside Al Shahama Municipal Centre, strategic partners took part in the campaign such as Abu Dhabi Police and the Department of Economic Development.
The campaign is a testament to the sustained efforts of the Municipal System of Abu Dhabi aimed at maintaining the appearance of cities and removing all aspects that could mar the beauty / appearance of the emirate.
It also aimed at maintaining the health and safety of community members by providing the highest environmental and health standards in trading commodities, in order to protect consumers from the risks of items sold by peddlers and make-shift markets lacking proper license from the bodies concerned.
In this regard, ADM urged all community members to contribute to protecting consumers and complying with the rules and regulations governing the practicing of various activities and occupations for the public interest and a better environment.
