The approval is in line with the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to provide Emiratis a dignified life since their welfare is the top priority of the government.

The approval is also a result of the close follow-up and directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The names of the beneficiaries were approved during a meeting chaired by Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Balhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of SZHP. Dr Al Nuaimi hailed the instructions of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, which emphasise that the home models built in residential complexes must be within the financial capabilities of Emiratis so as to not burden them with extra costs, with the government bearing all service-related, investments and public utility expenses in these residential complexes.

He praised the efforts of local government institutions across the UAE who contributed to achieving the objectives and vision of SZHP.

Wedding ‘gift’ for 249

Dr Maitha Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Marriage Fund Chair, has approved the names of 249 beneficiaries for the sixth batch of the Marriage Fund for 2014.

A grant of over Dh9.1 million has been sanctioned and the money allocated for each beneficiary has been transferred to their bank accounts.

The fund aims to form a cohesive UAE family through training programmes for the beneficiaries, informing them of the knowledge, ethics and skills required for growth and stability in family life. It also encourages the marriage of UAE citizens to Emirati women.

The Marriage Fund also supports charitable, humanitarian and social work and has launched a number of social and humanitarian initiatives in coordination charitable organisations in the country.
