Dubai Municipality (DM) has issued a statement on a recent viral video, showing workers preparing Omani Halwa in an unhygienic environment.
The statement reiterated its commitment to ensuring a hygienic environment and quality of products manufactured in the country:
"In response to a viral video on social media, showing a worker pouring Omani Halwa in a container that then melts. The Food Safety Department of DM confirms to the public that it applies best international practices with all of its inspection operations; including the implementation of an integrated system for controlling these products from the adoption and registration stage and through conducting tests in globally accredited laboratories.
"DM also sets regulations to ensure the safe use of packaging materials and all materials touching the food are according to the purpose for which the materials were made for.

"It is known that there are different classifications of plastic materials used with food depending on the temperature range, type of food, preserving methods and other factors that are taken into account when dealing with food contact materials.
"DM calls upon the public to communicate through its various channels to fight rumors and obtain the correct information from specialists."
