The federal nuclear agency launched an automated service to improve its interactions with its stakeholders in the UAE.
The new system will enable the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) to deal with licencee requests, such as applying for new or renewed licences, applying to import, export or transport radioactive materials, and submitting routine operating records.
Available on https://elicense.fanr.gov.ae, the service enables the FANR to build a National Dose Register and National Source Register, which are its functions according to the Nuclear Law.
The environmentally friendly process is also expected to reduce paper usage, which is in line with FANR's smart government initiative and its vision to move from physical to digital licensing process and services.
Mohamed Sultan Al Zaabi, FANR Deputy Director-General for Administration said: "We are proud to improve our service for the many UAE businesses that use radiation-related technologies."
"FANR is committed to continuously developing smart management solutions that serve its role of overseeing the safe, secure and peaceful nature of all nuclear- and radiation-related activities in the UAE," he added.
The nuclear agency helps to protect people and the environment from the potentially harmful effects of radiation by overseeing the use of nuclear- and radiation-related activities in the UAE.
To date, FANR has issued about 1,400 licences for nuclear- and radiation-related activities in the UAE.
