Happiness. We seem to be reading that word a lot lately, especially since the appointment of the UAE's - and the world's - first Minister of Happiness. But people will soon start being rewarded for their happy stories here.
We're all familiar with the concept of 'customer service' wherein if we have a complaint or query, the channels are there for us to submit our comments.
But as well as 'negative feedback', 32 entities across Dubai Government now have an option for customers to submit 'positive feedback' using its '5D' service.
Simply put, '5D' is the first smart interactive platform for positive customer experiences.
"There are so many official platforms for people to complain in this world but very few to leave appreciative feedback," managing director of Dubai' The Model Centre (DTMC) (an arm of The Executive Council, Dubai Government), Eman Al Suwaidi told Khaleej Times on Monday.
Launched in December 2015 as part of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government initiative, '5D' was promoting happiness among UAE residents way before the Minister of Happiness role even existed.
With an aim to create a turnaround in government service levels to offer a pioneering and unique experience to customers, Al Suwaidi said this 'positive feedback' platform among government entities is a first for the region.
"Now it ties in perfectly with the new focus of the UAE cabinet and the role of the new minister, Ohood Al Roumi. This strive for happiness and positivity in the UAE is yet another pioneering thought from Dubai's leadership," she said.
Whether you come across a friendly receptionist, or have a smooth sailing experience using your smart government service application, sharing your positivity could bring even more happiness your way, because at the end of this year, DTMC will be "rewarding the best story".
"We're still working on the criteria for the award but we want to vocalise positive experiences in the UAE so we will be showcasing the one which we deem fit for a win. So far we have had many positive stories submitted," Al Suwaidi said.
