National Ambulance Project to cover northern areas

Shaikh Saif inspects the medical preparations, qualified cadres and well-equipped ambulances at the General Headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Police.

Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on Monday launched the National Ambulance Project with the aim of covering the northern areas through eight main sites and 22 branches.

The move follows the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed 
Al Nahyan.

Shaikh Saif inspected the medical preparations, qualified cadres and well-equipped ambulances at the General Headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Police before dispatching them to their designated areas.

He called on those in charge of the project to provide services to the public and respond quickly to save the lives of the injured and other patients, noting that saving of lives is a sacred duty.

Shaikh Saif said Shaikh Khalifa had asked him to investigate a complaint made by a citizen mid last year about the delay of ambulance service in some parts of the UAE due to the distance. He added that Shaikh Khalifa had ordered the allocation of a budget to solve the problem at the earliest.

Based on those directives, and up on follow up by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a contract has been signed with the University of Harvard to set up the Emergency and Training Academy to enable Emiratis to take over these functions when they graduate from the academy.
