The government has decided to include private sector and individual entries to find 'The Leader of the 21st Century' as part of its fourth Executive Leaders Programme. The registration for this year's programme will remain open till September 30.
Abdullah bin Touq, executive director of Excellence and leadership in the Prime Minister Office, said the launch of the fourth Executive Leaders Programme marks the first practical application of the 'The Leader of the 21st Century' model, inspired by the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The model includes eight main pillars aimed at preparing national leaders with a global perspective, capable of keeping up with the changes and anticipating future challenges.
Bin Touq said the fourth Executive Leaders Programme will be open to federal and local government entities as well as the private sector.
The previous three editions of the programme were open only to executives and directors of departments in the federal government. Besides, this year, the programme is open for self-nomination in order to reach the largest possible number of leaders, he added.
The fourth programme extends for 15 months, and includes six courses. The registration for the programme can be completed through UAE Government Leaders Programme website www.uaeglp.gov.ae. The registration process will be followed by the evaluation of the applications. Applications which meet the terms of the programme will enter the second phase of the evaluation. The names of the selected candidates will be announced on November 1.
The selected 'leaders' will be given training to enhance their decision making skills and develop strategies and build an organisation capable of adapting to changes.
The UAE Government Leaders Programme was established in 2008 on the directives of Shaikh Mohammed, designed to enable government entities to achieve the strategic objectives and strengthen national capacities. It includes four categories: Strategic Leaders Programme, Executive Leaders Programme, Future Leaders Programme and Innovative Leaders Programme.
