Shaikh Khalifa expressed hope that the summit, with the participation of the GCC leaders, will achieve the objectives the people of the member states aspire for furthering cooperation and harmony, and thus emphasising the role of Council on the regional and international levels.

The President said that the periodic meetings and consultations of the GCC leaders had profound impact on the progress of the Council’s march, adding that the forthcoming session under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, is a new and important step in strengthening the blessed march of the Gulf states.

General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; and other Shaikhs were also present on the occasion.
