The UAE Vice-President has revealed his “greatest friend and companion” during his 15-year journey as the head of the UAE Government.

In an open letter he wrote on the occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said: “During this journey, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has been the greatest friend, companion and leader.

“Without his support, the federal government would not have succeeded and advanced at such speed. His wisdom, vision and unlimited support have enabled us to be among the best and most successful countries in the world.”

The two leaders share a very warm relationship and often meet to discuss national affairs. Most recently, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed visited Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in Al Marmoum. They had gone on a drive around Al Marmoum lake.

At the end of that meeting, Sheikh Mohammed had called Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed his "brother, a leader and a friend".

In the letter issued on Sunday, Sheikh Mohammed also hailed Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

“They took major responsibilities in the government and worked tirelessly to serve our county in the best possible way. I express my sincere appreciation to them and all the Cabinet members.”
