The bodies of two pilots martyred when their plane crashed in Yemen have been laid to rest in their hometowns in Sharjah and Fujairah.
The two martyrs - 37-year-old Mohammed Obaid Salem Al Hammudi from Diba Al Hisn in Sharjah and 25-year old Zayed Ali Al Kaabi from Mebreh in Fujairah - were participating in the Saudi-led coalition's Operation Restoring Hope when their fighter jet reportedly crashed into a mountain in northern Aden due to a technical fault.
In Fujairah, the funeral prayer for Zayed Ali Al Kaabi was performed by Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, at the Al Mamoun Mosque in Mebreh district.
According to family members, Zayed was a brave young man who graduated second from his class, and was fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a combat fighter pilot in the UAE Armed Forces.
In Sharjah, among those on hand to perform prayers at the funeral of Mohammed Obaid Salem Al Hammudi were Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Seaports and Customs; Shaikh bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, and a number of other senior officials and members of the Armed Forces.
Following the funeral, the martyr was laid to rest at Shiqiriya Cemetery in Dibba Hisn.
Mohammed Obaid Salem Al Hammudi is survived by his wife and four children, the youngest of whom is only three years old.
