This is the 15th aid plane to have been sent by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation to Yemen. The initiative is being followed by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
The plane, carrying the aid, left from Sharjah International Airport this morning for Socotra carrying 33 tonnes of blankets and tents and 27 tonnes of food supplies and other relief substances to be distributed to locals suffering shortages due to the powerful cyclone, an official source at the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation said.
The latest UAE aid shipment will be distributed to the locals at 15 points on Socotra being struck by Chapala, the strongest tropical cyclone on record to hit Yemen.
