Nasser bin Thani Al Haml, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced a new initiative called "100 days for Emiratisation in three fields" - which aims at creating jobs for Emiratis in fields of communications, construction and property development, aviation and transportation.
He said that those fields contribute more than 28 per cent to the UAE's gross domestic product (GDP).
Addressing a press conference in Al Bateen Council in Abu Dhabi, the minister said that there are 12 important economic sectors in the country, six of them are major contributors to the GDP and provide a lot of high-salary job opportunities - almost 300,000 jobs can be localised for citizens.
The event was attended by businessmen and citizens.
Al Hamli said that raising fees for ministry services was part of the strategy to increase the rate of Emiratisation in the private sector, and to improve the performance of public employees by 40 per cent by the year 2021.
He added that the low cost hiring process aims at attracting Emirati minds. It is expected that 200,000 Emirati minds would enter the market in the next term, the minister noted.
He stated that the ministry is working on an 'Emiratisation Partners Club' programme to providing discounts on fees for renewing work permits, adding that the company that has more than 3 per cent Emiratis in its staff would be in the platinum category. They would be charged for Dh300 instead of Dh3,000 for work permits.
The minister emphasised the importance of discussions between the leadership and citizens to understand their needs.
"The ministry cares about holding meetings with citizens to know their views and to hear their opinions about services the ministry provides for supporting them, and to provide them with suitable job opportunities."
