20 rent hike pleas rejected by RAK panel

RAS AL KHAIMAH - The number of rent dispute cases between tenants and lanlords rejected by the Real Estate Dispute Settlement Committee in Ras Al Khaimah has increased to 20 and nine more applications by landlords for increasing the rent have been rejected.

The committee was formed under the new law enforced in November 2006 to tackle the real estate disputes.

According to Consultant Hamdi Alshimi, head of the committee, they rejected 11 applications of rent increase in its first meeting and nine on a meeting on last Monday.


Six cases were settled by mutual agreement.
