Which concluded at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre on April 14, drew a record of more than 29,000 visitors in three days.

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, organisers of Getex Dubai 2006, said: “This year’s response has been most encouraging and has surpassed our expectations, especially for the learning technologies showcased at the event.

This proves yet again, the crucial role Getex plays in the evolving education and training sectors in the Middle East. While fulfilling its traditional role of helping students choose the most appropriate avenues of higher studies, Getex has also facilitated interaction between international manufacturers and suppliers and the regional education and training sectors.”

One of the world’s oldest universities and the Gulf region’s first French institution of higher education, the co-educational Paris-Sorbonne University-Abu Dhabi promoted its specialised Humanities courses and intensive French language at Getex. It announced the commencement of classes in a temporary location from October 2006 and the opening of its spacious new Abu Dhabi campus during the academic year 2007-2008. The new university will confer the Paris-Sorbonne University’s prestigious Bachelor’s Degree that is recognised and coveted in France, the EU and across the world.

Qatar, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the US and China also had a significant presence at Getex Dubai this year.
