Two people were injured and some vehicles were damaged in the freak accident which took place on Monday following some reckless driving and not keeping enough distance, Major Yasslam Al Tamimi, Director of Patrols Section at the Abu dhabi Traffic and Licence Department said. The vehicles were heading towards the capital city.

Maj Tamimi, who personally supervised the clearing operations on the bridge, said the two injured passengers were rushed to hospital immediately. They were discharged after receiving treatment.

Stressing on the importance of motorists abiding by traffic rules and regulations, he said : "Drivers should take extra care while driving. They should anticipate mistakes by other motorists to avoid such accidents. Maintaining distance between vehicles gives the driver a chance to react in such situations."
