Ajman to have waste management system

AJMAN - As part of its development projects, the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP) will adopt waste management and recycling system to maintain clean environment in the emirate.

Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of ADMP, yesterday signed an agreement with Grosvenor Waste Manage Limited, a Britain-based company represented by its Management Director, Robert Doran, who signed the documents on behalf of Kevin Charlton, General Manager of the company.

The signing ceremony was attended by Hamad Al Sanad, Administration Director of the Municipality, Abbas Al Neil, legal Adviser at the Ajman Amiri Court as well as a number of Municipality officials.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, said the waste recycling and management is one of the department's major projects that is part of the development plan for the current year.

"The project is aimed at contributing to the emirate's environment and development of the infrastructure. The municipality is making all efforts to support and launch such public services projects to attract investors to the emirate," he said.

The municipality has also signed several agreements with various service providers to conduct various projects that contribute to the development of the emirate such as sewerage project which will be completed soon.

"Grosvenor is a well known company in Britain with experience in the field of recycling and waste management. It was selected from among five companies. We have great confidence that they will provide the best services which include recycling of medical, domestic, household, construction and manufacturing waste that have been affecting the emirate's cleanliness and environment," he said.
