The decision came following a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dohms, chaired by Qassim Sultan, which discussed many pressing issues concerning improvement of medical services offered by the department and the follow up of projects, including the expansion of Maktoum Hospital and the establishment of the Centre for Medical Fitness.
Qadi Saeed Al Mroushid, Director-General of the Dohms, said that the board also reviewed a number of current projects, including the expansion of the Dubai Fertility Centre and that of the Dental and Oral Health Care Centre at Rashid Hospital.
He said that the board of directors approved the candidature of both Dr Najib Al Khaja, Director of Cardiac Surgery Centre at Dubai Hospital, and Dr Ahmad Al Jaziri, Head of the Surgery Section and Consultant General and Laproscopic Surgeon at Rashid Hospital, to represent the Dohms on the Arab Medical Specialisations Council.
He further pointed to the board's recommendation to coordinate with the UAE Ministry of Health and the UAE Ministry of Information and Culture, to monitor and control medical ads in such a way as to protect those benefiting from this service, while controlling certain negative aspects, to create a balance between the best interests of the general public, the private medical sector and the media, to guarantee each of them their rights.
Mr Mroushid said that the board of directors also reviewed the protocol for patient transfers between Dohms hospitals and private hospitals.
