Salim Khalifa Al Dhahry, Head of Auqaf office in Al Ain assured the success of the (Azaan) project that now links all the mosques in Al Ain, adding that the project will cover all the nearby areas of Al Ain in July.

Al Dhahry added that the new regulation was issued to make the space between every two small mosques 500-600 meters and between the big mosques 1200-2000, as some mosques are too near each other.

Meanwhile, Engineer Bakhita Al Mur Al Shamsi, Director of the Maintenance Operations Unit at the Al Ain Department of Municipalities and Agriculture (Aadma) said that the department has spent Dh8,781,000 million to maintain 500 mosques in Al Ain in 2005 compared with 6,400,000 million in 2004.

“This year, the maintenance budget is Dh 8million — it will be distributed as Dh5,700,000 for general maintenance, 300,000 different constructions, and Dh1 million for new split units and air-conditioners,” she added.

She highlighted that Al Ain contains the biggest number of Eid mosques, as the city has 27, compared with 2 in Abu Dhabi city, 2 in Bani Yas, and 6 in the western region of Abu Dhabi emirate.
