According to Mohammed Jassim Al Eraidi, Head of Public Libraries Section and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Child Summit 2003, the book fair is being visited by students from an average of 20 schools every day.
The book fair is being organised with the participation of 36 publishing houses from the UAE as well as from other AGCC and Arab countries. The fair displays a variety of children's books, stationary items, education materials, electronic toys, audio-visual equipment, story books and other publications.
Mr Al Eraidi said that a variety of cultural, educational and recreational activities have been organised alongside the Child Book Fair 2003 in coordination with local government departments, organisations and NGOs.
Ruqayya AbulHassan, Head of the Activities Committee, said that activities at the Child Summit today include drawing sessions, face-painting, raffle draw, exhibition on UAE heritage, operatta show, television interview with writers and educational contests under the supervision of the Emirates Thalassaemia Society.
