One of the various measures taken by the department to protect the health of the residents of Dubai, the programme is currently being implemented in different parts of the emirate and involves caging and sterlising of cats.
The programme, which is also implemented in many advanced countries of the world, helps reduce the number of stray cats. A special team was trained by experts in stray-cat control for implementing the programme.
The department has requested the public to cooperate with the team, by tying garbage bags tightly and placing them only at their marked locations and also by avoiding tampering with the municipality cages or shifting their places or setting the cats free.
The public has also been urged to inform immediately the Veterinary Section on finding stray cats in their areas.
For any inquiries regarding the programme, residents may contact the section on 04-2891114 or by facsimile on 04-2891123, or by e-mail on vetsection @dm.gov.ae.
