The move follows instructions in this regard by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Minister of Defence, in his capacity as Head of Dubai Police and Public Security. The new civilian uniform will apply to officers, cadets and personnel working at the airport's police division, in areas where there is direct contact with passengers.

"The order issued by General Shaikh Mohammed has come to further instate the civilised concepts of the UAE's development and progress march generally, and in Dubai in particular, and to upgrade the performance of policemen having direct contact with the public in various fields", said Colonel Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Acting Head of the General Directorate of Ports and Airports Security.

He said the new uniform was restricted to personnel working at the departure and arrival lounges, Al Majlis lounge and in transit area, besides all police personnel dealing directly with passengers at Terminal 2. Col. Bin Thani said uniform had been selected carefully in terms of quality and colour and in a way that suits the assignments of police at the airport.
