Colourful Navratri festivities begin

DUBAI - Indian Association, Dubai (IAD) and Al Ahmadiya Contracting are celebrating Navratri for 11 nights at the Al Ahmadiya Grounds in Al Aweer daily from 10pm to 2pm. The celebrations, which kicked off yesterday will continue till October 4.

Around 7,000 to 10,000 persons on weekdays and 10,000 -12,000 people on weekends are expected to participate and join in the revelry.

As in the past, IAD will bring in a reputed band from Mumbai to perform during the festivities, Chetan Kumar Rana, Sonali P. Salkar, and a 16-member band will regale the crowd every night with current foot-tapping as well as evergreen numbers of Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi.


Chetan Rana, the male lead singer has performed nationally and internationally with acclaimed artistes.

Navratri celebrations are being sponsored by Tiffany, Indian Airlines, 106.2 Hum FM, and Sonia Electronics.
