According to sources at the Spanish Embassy, the event will commence with a Classical Guitar Concert by Spanish guitarist Pablo Sainz Villegas, who will perform an amalgam of Spanish classical and modern masterpieces composed for Spanish guitar.

As a member of the Proyecto Guerrero Orchestra, dedicated to avant-garde music, Mr Villegas has worked with some of the greatest contemporary composers including Helmut Lachemann, George Crumb and Cristobal Halftter.

He has participated in the International Music Festivals of Granada, Segovia, Peralada and Strassburg, besides recording Berio's Sequenza XI for the complete edition of the thirteen sequenzas issued by Naxos Records.

He is also the recipient of the 'Francisco Tarrega', one of the most prestigious prizes for a guitar player.

The Cultural Week will also involve a cycle of Spanish movies, all of them awarded with several 'Goyas', the highest recognition in Spanish Cinema Academy.

El perro del hortelano (The Dog in the Manger), a beautiful adaptation to cinema of a famous play by Lope de Vega, one of the best dramatists of the Golden Century of Spanish Literature, will be screened on October 6 at 8pm.
