“We have decided to extend working hours of officials who deal directly with the public till the last application of a day’s work is completed,” said Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Director of the Dubai Traffic Police Department. The hour extension has not been specified.

The backlog was caused by delays resulting from the experimental implementation of the unified traffic system. It was also caused by the long holiday last month.

Some transactions, said officials, cannot be processed at service stations and external registration units, and that is why extra working hours were needed on a daily basis to clear the backlog.

The Vehicle Licensing Section was also instructed to increase the number of staff responsible with handling public transactions and raise cooperation levels with other sections. This, Brig. Al Zafeen said, will develop programmes further and serve the public better by saving time, effort and money.
