Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai yesterday ordered the Allocation of Dh 350 million for expansion works of Al Qasimi HospitAl in Sharjah.

Shaikh Mohammed approved the allocation after touring various sections of the hospitAl here yesterday.


He Also viewed models of the proposed expansion designs which are slated to increase the capacity of the hospital from 320 to 500 beds.

Commenting on this allocation, Health Minister Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, said the allocation underscored Shaikh Mohammed’s commitment to upgrade the capacity of the medicAl facilities and thereby ensure delivery of quality medical services. The expansion works will begin from September.

This year, he said, adding that the Ministry of Health had contracted a specialised Australian firm to upgrade and manage the hospital.

The minister said Shaikh Mohammed had ordered the building of a specialised paediatrics and cardiology units at the hospital but of course without detracting from the importance of other units.
