Comprising members from the College and Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms), has met for the first time to discuss wide-ranging issues to help the college move ahead to even greater success in the future.
The new board has been created following a recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between college management and Dohms to further enhance the reputation and skills of women graduating as doctors from DMCG. A new Executive Board was also created by this arrangement.
Chairing the first meeting, Executive Board Chairman Rashid bin Shabib extended his thanks and support to Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Minister for Trade and Industry and President of Dohms for his backing to the staff and graduates of the college.
The chairman also passed on the support of College Founder and President of the Board of Trustees, Haj Saeed bin Ahmed Lootah, for the new board and its plans to further develop DMCG and help more women successfully graduate as doctors from the college that started operations in 1986.
Mr Al Shabib added that Dohms Chairman, Qassim Sultan Al Banna, had pledged his support to the Memorandum of Understanding that will provide high-level practical training for students of DCMG in Dohms hospitals across Dubai.
Executive Board Vice-Chairman, Saleh Saeed Lootah, said: "DMCG is set to enter a new era for better education of our women students with new Professors and staff coming on board to enhance our reputation and build on the success of the college as a true pioneer in providing international class medical training for women doctors. Since 1991 we are very proud to have had 480 women graduate from the college." "The Executive Board will also be doing everything it can to support the recommendations of the Faculty Board and we are grateful for their expertise and support as we move ahead in the future," added Mr Shabib.
Executive Board members are Rashid bin Shabib, Chairman, Saleh Saeed Lootah, Vice-Chairman and Yahiya Saeed Lootah, Hussain Saeed Lootah, Dr Essa Kazim and Dr Khalil Quyed.
The Faculty Board is comprised of Prof. Mohammed Galal El Din, Dean of DMCG, Prof. Joe Muscat Baron, Dean of the Clinical College of Dohms, Prof. Najib Mohamed Al Khajah, Prof. Fathia Ali Bayomi, Prof. Magdy Mustafa Kamel, Prof. Mahmoud Mohd Marashi, Dr Badria Al Oaar and Asst. Prof. Dr Neveen Salahudin.
