In the latest incident, on August 23, a gang robbed electrical wires from the construction site of Shanco Contracting Company located in Al Barsha a week ago.

“We are constructing villas in this area. Last week, four unidentified miscreants stole electrical wires and materials. Two of them pulled the watchman outside the premises, beat him up and gagged him.”

“The other two crept inside and stole the materials,” said KR Goplani, a partner of Shanco Contracting Company.

However, he did not disclose details of the loss suffered by his company. But, he added, a complaint has been lodged with the police.

“A few days earlier, a similar incident took place in Hor Al Anz where a big quantity of electric cable belonging to a Dubai Electricity and Water Authority sub-contractor was stolen,” Goplani said.

“A year ago, electrical cables worth Dh7,000 were stolen from our work site located in Mirdiff. But that case remains unsolved as yet,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, the three Iranian nationals arrested a month ago for killing the Ascon watchman did admit to the police that they used to steal surveyor machines from different warehouses in Dubai.
