"The hosting of this meeting is part of Dubai Press Club's ongoing efforts to foster relations between institutions of higher education and the media industry. It is an important part of the club's role to facilitate efforts to find areas of cooperation between educational fraternity and the media professionals," said Mohammed Al Mansoori, Deputy Manager, Dubai Press Club.
The committee, which consists of representatives from the Dubai media industry advises the faculty and staff on media courses and the market trends and requirements.
The committee includes Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman of Committee; Khalid Bader Albudoor, Director, Programming, Dubai Arabic FM; Abdulla Marzouqi, Acting Head, Tanmia; Francis Matthews, Editor, Gulf News; Khaled Mohammed Ahmed, General Manager, Al Bayan; Ahmed Al Goud, Director-General, Dubai TV & Radio and Hessa Al Sharif, Ministry of Education.
Also represented on the committee are Dr Howard Reed, Director, Dubai Women's College; Norm Gray, Director, Dubai Men's College; Allyson Vanstone, Supervisor, Dubai Women's College; Harvey Honsberger, Supervisor, Dubai Men's College; John O;Hara, Head, Career Programmes, Dubai Women's College and Reem Jamal Obeidat, Unesco Chairwoman in Journalism.
Mohammed Al Murr, chairman of the committee, outlined the need for media companies to work in collaboration with higher education organisations such as the colleges. He suggested that media companies new to Dubai could be assisted by graduates of the programme to adapt to the local and Gulf cultures.
In addition to providing information related to topics and projects related to courses, the committee initiated plans to include members on the committee from organisations in Media City, E-Vision and the International Advertising Association, Dubai Press Club and other organisations important to the graduates and students of the programmes.
