Scheduled to be completed in five years, the encyclopaedia aims at covering various topics concerning UAE history and civilisation and the major developments in various fields of life.
Al Mamoun Asaad Al Tameemi, Executive Director of the encyclopaedia told Khaleej Times that the main aim of the encyclopaedia is to highlight UAE sovereignty and to prove that UAE's development is not only attributed to the prosperity witnessed in economy, commerce, tourism and infrastructure but also to the great achievements in the scientific field.
"The encyclopaedia, which is considered a national project, will not only act as a reference for readers, but will also be an important addition to UAE libraries. We are endeavouring to work together as one team and succeed in preparing a unique encyclopaedia which is better than any other encyclopedia available. This will be done through the experts and the reseachers who will work together to make the final work a distingushed one."
Mr Al Tameemi noted that in other encyclopaedias, one person accomplished the research and reference.
Various researchers and experts supervising the work undertaken by the research, on the other hand, will do the research and reference involved in the making of the UAE encyclopedia.
