The annual function was held under the patronage of Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and was organised by the university’s Career Advising and Placement Services (CAPS).

This year’s event elicited tremendous response from local, regional and international companies, with 32 corporate sponsors and 105 private, semi-government and government organisations keen to recruit AUS students as full-time employees and/or interns during the fair.

“The AUS Career Fair provides an important forum for employers from around the region to come to our campus and interact with our talented, ambitious and impressive student body,” said Maysun Nimr, Manager of CAPS.

“It also helps potential employers identify top candidates and interact with our students and graduates in a positive and professional way,” she added. Nimr said that she is confident this year’s event will, once again, prove to be an exciting, valuable and worthwhile event for all participants.

Nadine Al Noueiri, an accounting and finance student, said she was excited at the opportunities that the fair presented. “I am excited because renowned accounting firms like Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche are present in the fair. I have my CVs with me and I am ready to talk to the company representatives. My main purpose here is to look for an internship possibility before I actually start working,” she said.

This year, 55 companies are participating in the fair for the first time while several companies came from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and even Italy. Nissan Middle East FZE is one of the new participants this year.

“We have changed our strategy and hire from campuses now. The AUS Career Fair presents us with an opportunity to take fresh graduates from an American university,” said Priya Sujeet, HR and Administration Manager, Nissan Middle East FZE, who also attended the fair.

Hotmian Sinaga, HR Coordinator, Procter and Gamble Gulf FZE said, “We think AUS graduates are talented people so we will be providing information about our company and taking CVs as the first step in the selection process.”
