The nine DWC students, along with a chaperone and Dr Howard Reed, DWC Director, travelled to Phoenix on the trip that focused on student leadership and women in business. During their tour the students participated in the National Graduate Women in Business Conference held at Thunderbird - The American Graduate School of International Management. They also visited Arizona State University and Mesa Community College as well as Motorola and America West Airlines.

The students said they not only learnt a great deal from the international students at Phoenix they were also able to dispel the usual Western stereotypes about Arab women.

"They were surprised to hear that we are keen to pursue higher studies and can talk frequently in English," a student said. The students met Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and members of his staff learning about the light rail system proposed for the Phoenix metro-area, zoning and development issues and travel and tourism in the region. During the trip, the students gave several presentations including a talk at the Centre for Global Tolerance and Engagement at Mesa Community College.

Forever 21 and Citigroup generously sponsored the trip. "We are very grateful for the generous donations from the business community, which makes these important trips possible," stated Dr Howard Reed, DWC Director.
