The UAE national Nabeel Rashid, to whom the car belonged, was accompanied by another UAE national Abdullah Saeed. Two Indians — Riyas Kouti and Nafisa Abdul Majeed — drove the car from Sharjah to Dibba. One of the drivers, who suddenly saw a camel, failed to control the car, killing the camel on the spot.

This accident is the first of its kind in the Masafi hilly area, as most of the accidents occur in the Al Zaid area, which is surrounded by many farms. A few months ago, the Fujairah government had ordered restraining animal owners from allowing their animals to cross the road. It imposed fines on those violating the law.
