Over 30 food stalls offering a variety of cuisines from fast food to speciality cuisines of various countries are located in the village aiming to cater to a mixed crowd of people from different nationalities.
"Starbucks Cafe, Americana, Pak Arab restaurant, several Indian and Chinese restaurants as well as traditional Arabic food outlets are bound to become a big attraction for food lovers during the holy month of Ramadan," said Mohammed Ahmed Ameen, Coordinator of Sharjah Ramadan Festival.
He pointed out that the Fun and Food Village, which is a part of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival activities, has been set up for the first time this year exclusively for people who want to eat and relax. "There is no shopping incorporated in this Village, because many families just prefer to relax in a peaceful ambience while their children enjoy the recreational activities, games and rides," Mr Ameen said, explaining the absence of retail shops in the village.
A special corner will cater to fun and games activities for children, and a special tent will house a shooting club which will hold daily and weekly shooting competitions during the month. The competition will be open to general public and a variety of prizes will be given away to the winners.
An added attraction is an artificial pond built in the centre of the Village which lends a relaxed ambience to visitors. Ducks and seagulls in the pond not only interest children, but will offer a peaceful and relaxed environment for people to unwind in the evenings, the official said.
The Village is located next to Al Massa Cinema on the Corniche and will remain open daily from 6pm to 1am until November 28.
