Guard says he is not paid two months’ salary

“The company did not pay me for two months. I am working for a small salary and the family back home is totally dependent on me. I could not send any money to them for two months and they are in trouble,” he said.

WHEN Khaleej Times contacted an official from the company, he said: “We always pay salary on time. It is the policy of the company to keep one and half month salary of the employees.

“We pay salary every month on the 15th and in April and May we paid salary on 15th of the previous months. We have some competitors. Actually some interested parties are instigating trouble for the company.

“That's why some people complain that they did not get their salaries.”

Water shortage in Sharjah

A CALLER who did not give his name complained about the scarcity of water in Sharjah industrial area No 12.

A SOURCE from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) said there is a fault in the main desalination plant and Sewa is currently making efforts to resolve this problems which affected many areas in the emirate. Sewa had made temporary alternative arrangements to provide the affected areas with water tanks until the problem was resolved.

Increasing population of rodents

FARHAD complained about the increasing population of rodents in her building which is located on Al Wahda street and which houses a furniture showroom. She called the municipality several times, but there was no response.

THE old furniture always attract rodents. Since Ms Farhad's building houses a furniture shop, it would definitely be affected by such rodents, said an official from Sharjah Municipality. "A rodent control survey is being conducted in this furniture market, industrial and commercial areas in the emirate in general to get rid of the rodent population," the official clarified.

"Inspectors will soon visit this building to spray rodent pesticides in the furniture shop and the whole building. The civic body is adopting an advanced technique as a means to control insects and rodents in various areas in the emirate,” he said.

The inspections currently being carried out by the relevant section at the municipality are part of a series of measures taken by the inspectors to preserve public health and prevent pest-borne diseases from occurring in the emirate.

“Furniture, foodstuff shops, construction companies, and other establishments have to comply with general cleanliness rules stipulated by the section and should be free from pests that are harmful to human health,” he commented.

Delay in refund claimed

BENNY K.P whose complaint and the reply to it were published on Tuesday in this corner, claimed that there was a delay in paying refund money in lieu of cancellation of booking despite many reminders and e-mails.

ALTHOUGH the reply of India Express was published in this corner, Mrs.B.Rao, Manager - Air India, Abu Dhabi & Al Ain further clarified: "On receipt of Mr Benny's complaint we had checked with our Headquarters and were advised that the refund had been processed from our end and requested him to check with his credit card issuing Bank.

As his issuing Bank had not yet credited his account, in order to help him follow up with his Bank as a special case, we have obtained the fund transfer reference number which has been advised to Mr Benny.

She added that after Air India Express effects the Refund in the normal course, as in this case, the actual posting of the credit to the card-holder's account is done by the Card Issuing Bank and the time taken may vary depending upon the Bank's policies and procedures.

Based on the individual billing cycle the refund could take up to two billing cycles to be reflected in the credit card statement. This is the normal case with all credit card refunds.
