have been approved by Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality.
This was announced by Qassim Sultan, Director-General, Dubai Municipality, who noted the civic body is currently implementing a five-year strategic plan with the objective of setting up drainage and storm water networks to cover all urban areas of Dubai city.
“The new drainage projects will help the emirate cope with its growing needs for drainage and sewage networks thereby ensuring a safe disposal of the waste water and its treatment for using in irrigating the city’s greenery. These projects will meet our existing and future demands,” said Sultan, adding that the new projects, approved by Shaikh Hamdan, include a Dh62.92 million project for constructing drainage and storm water networks for Al Warqa 2 Area which comprises sewerage collection network, surface water drainage network, house connections, inspection chambers, road crossings and connection of the new system to the existing system. The project will be completed in 20 months.
The second project, approved by the civic body, is a Dh3.2 million project for providing irrigation system and all other associated works. It will be undertaken within three months.
