Indian couple found hanging from ceiling in Hor Al Anz area
DUBAI - An Indian couple was found hanging from the ceiling in a villa in Hor Al Anz last evening, in what is suspected to be a suicide pact.
The couple, hailing from Palode in the southern Indian state of Kerala, however, did not leave any note behind.
Family problems are believed to be a possible motive behind the tragedy. The Dubai Police, who were informed of the incident by the neighbours who got suspicious, visited the site of the incident and later had the two bodies taken to the morgue for a forensic examination. Their families in India have been informed of the tragedy.
The man, Jaffer (35), had been working and living in Dubai for the past 15 years, while his wife, Shemi (26) had arrived in Dubai only six months ago. The two had got married in India two years ago.
A source from Dubai Police confirmed the incident, but could not provide further details. However, the source said family or domestic problems might be a possible motive for the double suicide. Police investigations are in progress.
