The 38-year old father of two was understandably ecstatic and was speechless for sometime after hearing the news. When asked to comment, Mr Murad said, "Winning a million dollars is an amazing feeling. I would like to thank Dubai Duty Free for making my life truly great".
Mr Murad, the second Jordanian Millennium Millionaire winner, purchased the winning ticket on 20th May while travelling to Dubai on business. Although too surprised to think of ways to spend his winnings, Mr Murad will definitely give donation to charity institutions of needy children around the world particularly the Palestinians.
Mr Murad owns a general trading company in Amman and had participated on the Finest Surprise and Millennium Millionaire every time he travelled to Dubai.
The draw was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free along with Salah Tahlak, Director Corporate Communications & Dubai Tennis Championships of Dubai Duty Free and Abdulla Al Ansari, Director of Human Resources & Development of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation.
Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, an Indian and German nationals were announced winners in the Finest Surprise Promotion. Mr Ovid C. Fernandes from India won a Travertine Beige Mercedes Benz S500 in Series No. 1148 with ticket No. 0882 while Dagmar Buesch from Germany won the Harley Davidson in Series No. 36 with ticket No. 0197.
Presentation to previous Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise winners took place before the draw. Ms Mary D'Arcy, a London-based British national was delighted to receive her $1 million cheque from Dubai Duty Free. Ms D'Arcy, the 38th Millennium Millionaire winner had taken time from her busy schedule to be at the presentation.
Mr Johann Reiser, an Austrian national, decided to keep his Midnight Blue Metallic Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe he had won in Series 1141. Mr Frank Haensel, a German national who won the Harley Davidson in Series 35 was also excited to ride on his motorbike.
