Organised by Johnny George, the publisher of Malayalam monthly magazine International Malayali, the week-long festival will bring director, artistes and officials face-to-face with movie aficianados in the UAE.
"The success of the first festival has encouraged us to hold the second festival, said Mr George. The films to be screened as a part of the festival are Sesham, Danny, Kannaki, Nandanam, Yaathrakkarude, Sradhakku, Parinaamam and Arimpara. All these films have won acclaim in India and abroad.
Film personalities like Siddique, Srinivasan, Prithiviraj, Sona Nair, Navya Nair and director T.V. Chandran will be present at the screening. "The UAE has the largest audience for Malayalam movies outside Kerala. Though runaway commercial hits in Malayalam reach the UAE audience, Malayalees in the UAE seldom get a chance to view these good films," said Mr George. "The film festival is part of efforts to fulfil our commitment to the expat Malayali community," added Mr George.
