Mohammed obtains his National ID card

ABU DHABI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday obtained his National Identity Card by registering his name in the UAE population register.

The ID card and population register project is being implemented by the Emirates Identity Authority (Eida).

The project has been dubbed one of the largest hi-tech projects in the Middle East.


Shaikh Mohammed underlined the importnace of the project saying: “This project is one of the most important national projects that constitutes not only one of the strategies of the state but also a qualitative leap. It will certainly reinforce the development process of the country in various spheres.”

Following his registration in the population register, Shaikh Mohammed was presented his ID card by Dr Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director-General of Eida. Card No. 1 of the project was presented to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while Card No. 2 was presented to the Vice-President and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Mohammed called upon UAE nationals and expatriates to register themselves and obtain their cards, adding that such registeration was a national responsibility.
