Which was adopted by the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and envisaged the full participation of the citizens of the emirate of Abu Dhabi in chalking out different strategies and policies to address vital social issues.
The NCC, which is the legislative body of the emirate, has been working hand in hand with various local departments to address issues of concern to the citizens of the emirate.
Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Masood, Speaker of the NCC, said the formation of the council underpinned the strong commitment of President Shaikh Zayed to the principle of Shura.
"Shaikh Zayed believes that people should have full participation in issues and matters related to them", said Mr Masood.
The main role of the Council centred on allowing citizens to let their voices heard in various aspects that touch their daily life and providing them with the opportunity of expressing their thoughts and aspirations, said Mr Masood.
On the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the Accession, Mr Masood renewed the allegiance of the Council to President Shaikh Zayed and also to Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Speaker also lauded the support of Shaikh Zayed and Shaikh Khalifa in discussing and adopting valuable and practical recommendations on vital issues like health, education and other public issues.
A report released on the occasion of Accession Day, said that the council discussed a number of important issues during its 11-session term.
The debated issues included activating the role of the the Civil Defence to better manage crisis and emergencies, whereby the House commended provision of more safety, search and rescue operation equipment to help Civil Defence adopting more safety measures.
People with special needs, were also on the top of the Council's agenda, where they recommended integrating this category into the society and providing them with more job opportunities, so as to contribute to the nation building.
It also recommended exempting Eastern Region's residents from paying the charges levied for electricity services for farms and private residence.
