A first-timer to the Global Village, the attractive Nepal pavilion was completely razed by an unfortunate fire incident. But that was in no way a deterrent for the Global Village officials to rebuild the pavilion which resembled one of the ancient quarters of the mountain country. Just within a few days of the fire, the facility was back in its glory and was once again opened to the public.

The new pavilion mirrors all the hues of its beautiful countryside, giving visitors an authentic feel of the place and this new pavilion is a step in that direction, as says its organiser Aasha Lama.

“The earlier gate with its copper top, peacock window and the overall facade had woodwork from Nepal but now we have hurriedly rebuilt it in Styrofoam and it's equally good to look at,” she said.

Aasha Lama is also content being part of such a huge international event. She is selling Momos, a healthy traditional dish cooked over steam at her stall. “We have a restaurant in the pavilion which also sells authentic Nepalese food," she said. “By the way there are stalls selling typical traditional silver jewellery like ring, brooch, bracelet, pendant, earring to semiprecious stones like coral, rubies, turquoise, and garnet,” she added.

The entertainment activities will soon resume at the Pavilion as the folk artistes were busy with the Tibetan New Year back home in Nepal. They will be coming down from time to time and entertain the visitors with their authentic song and dance numbers.
