A superviser of an oil station in Al Buraimi said that the Oman authorities have supplied the stations with more petrol to tackle the rush of Al Ain cars.
The rush of vehicles to the border city has caused traffic jams. Al Ain residents have became displeased about the new petrol prices, which has affected their budget. Khaleej Times asked a number of motorists their opinion regarding the new move. Mohammed Ali said that the new oil prices have pinched his pocket. Nadia Shareef added that she spent Dh220 to fill her four-wheel tank.
Nevertheless, Hassan Ahmed has a different opinion. He highlighted that the new prices have caused an unjustified pinch, because the move is a part of the international jump in oil costs. Petrol stations in Al Ain looked abandoned as a huge number of motorists and taxi drivers moved to Al Buraimi to fill their tanks. Abbas Mohammed said that he saved up to Dh15 every time he fill up his vehicle tank in Al Buraimi.
Starting September 1, petrol prices all over the country became dearer by Dh1.50 per gallon. The price of Mogas 95 and Mogas 98 rose to Dh6.25 and Dh6.75 per gallon from Dh4.75 and Dh5.25 respectively, while diesel price increased to Dh7.70 from Dh6.30 a gallon.
