Painting exhibition begins

DUBAI — An exhibition of paintings by Radhika Khimji, a Royal Academy of Arts, London graduate, was opened at the XVA Gallery yesterday. Khimji is an artist of Indian origin who is currently living and working in Muscat. Her work focuses on dualities in life and nature, set in a state of flux.

In Khimji’s works, there is evidence of humour — figures are always awkward due to the very method of their creation. A work is deliberately made strange to its environment, destabilised and incongruous, cut out and renegotiated, leaving viewers unsure about a clear vantage point for evaluating the work. Khimji’s exhibition will continue until January 30.
