The beach area extending between Gate No. 3 and 4 in Al Sahil Maydan will be closed and beachgoers can visit West Beach instead of it..
The municipality has also announced the closure of Al Sahil swimming beach for the public in the sector stretching from Gate No.4 to Gate No. 6. A part of the Family Beach will be opened to all on a temporary basis and interested individuals can access the temporary beach through Gate 1.
The partial closures made for upgrading the beach and related appurtenances are undertaken in the context of the municipality’s ongoing endeavours to upgrade the corniche beach to the highest standards offering residents and visitors an interactive marine front featuring vibrant events, outlets and recreational areas.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has recently kicked off the periodical maintenance and renovation works of Abu Dhabi Corniche involving the addition of new services to match the expectations of beachgoers of various ages. The process also involves the replacement of the corniche sand by a better-quality and dirt-free sand. The beach design envisages high and flexible movement between the corniche and the surrounding areas in order to ensure smooth access of visitors from and to the beach. It will also offer multiple movement patterns for riders and pedestrians through dedicated buses, walkways and wood walks along the corniche in addition to several crossings linking the corniche with the neighbourhood.
In the new design, the municipality has shown keenness on adding aesthetic touches to the corniche in order to turn it into a highly comfortable and entertainment venue for beachgoers and their families.
