“The magazine will promote our literature, expressing the dreams and aspirations of the common man and bring together all the well-known literary figures in the Arab world,” said the Editor of the magazine, Ali Al Masoudi.
Famous poets like Mahmoud Darwish and Adones, he added, would be part of this great literary endeavour.
“The monthly magazine will be issued even after the conclusion of the One Million Dirham poet competition,” he said, unveiling a plan to develop the magazine as a communication channel for Arab poets in the Gulf region.
He added that 20 women poets were taking part in the competition. Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan will write a column for the magazine in addition to essays by other Arab celebrities.
Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, said, “The first three winners of the poetry competition will have their collection of poems published.”
