Press 'yes' and one dirham from your transaction amount will be automatically transferred to a Red Crescent account in the bank.

The new arrangement is to support the 'Charity Dirham' Project launched by the Red Crescent two years back in coordination with National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

The basic concept is to have a window that will pop on the ATM machine screen asking people to donate one dirham for Red Crescent's projects. The message will appear automatically prior to the withdrawal or deposit of cash.

"Enhancement of partnership with the various establishments in the state, especially in the financial sector, is a noble target which the Red Crescent works to meet in view of the increasing demands of the humanitarian action," Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi, Chairman, Board of Directors, RCA said during a Press conference held at the InterContinental Hotel here yesterday.

"Pursuant to our policy and advanced vision towards partnership and enhancing solidarity, we announce today the success of our 'Charity Dirham' project in cooperation with the national banks that added a new meaning to the concept of joint work and responsibility in the humanitarian arena," he added.

Thanking the banks for their cooperation and positive response for the project since it was introduced two years back, Suwaidi expressed hope that other banks will also join the league.

"The technological development and expansion in the financial services have become a tangible reality helping banking institutions make things easier for their clients. This condition urges us to expand the same to donations too so that it can be made any time, anywhere with utmost ease," said Abdul Aziz Al Muhairi, Acting Chief Executive, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB).

According to him, ADIB is making use of its ATM machines to implement the 'Dirham Al Kheire' project in line with its services to the society in all humanitarian aspects.
